Tomographic 3.1, Resonance flaw detector

Application "Resonance flaw detector" is intended to test articles for laminations in composite materials and starved spots in articles glued of metal materials.

Application operates within the frequency range 0.2...1.0 MHz.

It is possible to setup instrument both automatically and manually. For application setting, it is necessary to measure two frequency responses: for flawless area of reference block and defective area. Basing on this data, application determines automatically the best frequency for flaw detection, as well as displays both frequency responses. It is also possible to set required parameters manually: generator frequency, number of frequency repetitions, beginning and width of the analyzed signal time interval. When frequency or time interval of the analyzed signal are set manually, А-scan is displayed.

Defect-free zone is set in software by ellipse of violet color. Its location is defined in such a manner that cursor should be inside this zone when probe is located in any flawless area of reference block. Ellipse coordinates and shape are adjusted specifying angle of turning, displacement along axis inclined at such an angle, values of ellipse width and thickness. It is also possible to adjust sensitivity within wide range (Fig.2).

Performed settings are saved into the instrument archive, which allows work to be started almost at once. When settings are downloaded, no additional operations are required – it is quite enough to move probe over tested surface and look at screen.

Functional data:

  • Automatic setting by frequency response for defective and flawless areas
  • Manual correction of setting
  • Defect-free zone with shape of ellipse
  • Adjustment of sensitivity within wide range
  • Availability of archive and documentation of test results by means of the NDT operator AWS
  • Quick setup of operation mode
