Ultrasonic testing of the locomotive parts is applied at the enterprises involved in production, maintenance and repair of locomotive parts, including the ultrasonic testing during restoration of worn-out parts or their heat strengthening.
The specialized application Tomographic 2.3. performs testing of such details as: axle, rim, roll surface, tooth space, suspension bolt, cardan shaft, small pinion shaft, lengthened nave, suspension arm, suspension shaft.
For the testing of rims, the USK-TL scanner (fig.1) is used, which essentially reduces the testing laboriousness and time. The built-in path transducer of the scanner allows to build tomographic images and determine th eflawed area coordinates.
The Tomographic 2.3 development concept is aimed at the maximal reduction of the human factor due to implementation of such modes as:
• Acoustic contact tracking;
• Full monitoring of the transducer;
• Attenuation analysis of tested materials;
• Visualization of defects including the equivalent square, depth of occurrence and location;
• Training demo movies for quick acquaintance with the application.
Functional features:
- Automatic calculation of the flaw distance and its X and Y axis projections.
- Automatic gain control lets the user save time, which can be spent for selection of the necessary gain.
- Archive of results allows to view all necessary information about the parameters and testing results. To document testing results, the UD4-T Operator's Workbench application is used.
